Welcome to version 3 of charlize-central.com. This gorgeous new design was created by the lovely and talented Dora of Trancefixion Designs and I hope you will all enjoy it as much as I do. Please note that the film pages are currently offline as they are still in the process of being revamped, but will be back online soon. I would also like to thank Mycah for the lovely WordPress theme. I’d be so lost without her help.

Hasty Pudding to honor Charlize Theron, Christopher Walken
Categories: News & Gossip

Oscar winners Charlize Theron and Christopher Walken will soon add another trophy to their collection — Hasty Pudding awards.
The awards, announced today, are given each year to performers who have made a “lasting and impressive contribution to the world of entertainment,” by Hasty Pudding Theatricals at Harvard University, the nation’s oldest undergraduate drama troupe.
Theron will be honored Feb. 7 with the traditional Woman of the Year parade and roast in productions that rival broadway shows, and Walken will be similarly celebrated as Man of the Year during a tribute on Feb. 15.
Theron, 32, won an Academy Award in 2004 for her performance as a serial killer in “Monster.” She was nominated two years later for “North Country” and has appeared most recently in “In the Valley of Elah.”
Walken, 64, won a Best Supporting Oscar in 1974 for “The Deer Hunter.” His other work includes “Pulp Fiction,” ”Catch Me if You Can” and last year’s musical “Hairspray.”
Last year’s recipients were Ben Stiller and Scarlett Johansson.
In a spoof of the awards, Paris Hilton was named Harvard Lampoon’s “Hastiest Pudding of the Lampoon Award.” The 26-year-old actress-socialite be on campus Feb. 6 to pick up the honors.

Sundance Q&A: Talking With Charlize Theron
Categories: Interviews
|
Earlier this week, EW.com caught up with Charlize Theron, who was in Park City promoting Sleepwalking, a drama in which she plays the unstable, absentee mother of a 12-year-old girl (Bridge to Terabithia’s AnnaSophia Robb). Theron also served as a producer on the film, just as she did on 2003’s Monster, the dark drama for which she won a Best Actress Oscar. The thoughtful star shared her feelings about how she chooses her roles, the ways in which women are portrayed in movies, and whether her increasing workload behind the camera may one day include directing.

‘Sleepwalking’ review by Variety
Categories: Film News & Reviews and Sleepwalking

A dysfunctional family gets a therapeutic reshuffling via abandonment, unemployment, abuse and murder in “Sleepwalking,” which traces the fallout when a barely functional uncle assumes responsibility for his 11-year-old niece after her mother skips town. Bleakly striking visuals and a name cast (Nick Stahl, Dennis Hopper, Woody Harrelson and producer Charlize Theron) ratchet up the emotional intensity, but the overly simplistic script by Zac Stanford (”The Chumscrubber”) hits nothing but high notes, making the whole dramatically less than the sum of its parts. Broody meller, skedded for March 14 limited release, may ultimately depend on producer Theron’s star power.
Forced out of her boyfriend’s house when he’s busted for growing marijuana, Joleen (Theron) and her daughter Tara (AnnaSophia Robb) move into the dreary digs of Joleen’s younger brother James (Stahl), ironically nicknamed Speedy for his less-than-quicksilver grasp of events. But emotionally distraught Joleen soon hooks up with a truck driver, leaving an ill-prepared James to “temporarily” care for her wise-beyond-her-years daughter.
