Nicole Kidman To Play Transsexual, Marry Charlize Theron, For ‘Danish Girl’

Nicole Kidman’s latest film is one that promises to be a lightning rod, particularly in the current political climate. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she is set to star in “The Danish Girl” as the world’s first post-op transsexual — and be married to Charlize Theron to boot. (I think that might be the prettiest couple since Brangelina, don’t you?) Kidman will also be one of the film’s producers, under her Blossom Films shingle.

“The Danish Girl” is the true story of artists Einar and Greta Wegener. Their marriage took a surprising turn when Einar substituted for a female model that Greta was set to paint. Einar felt surprisingly comfortable in costume, and began dressing in women’s clothing with Greta’s encouragment.

They often went out in public as women together, Einar adopting the persona of “Lili,” who they introduced as Einar’s sister. Einar decided to commit to the new identity altogether, and had the first recorded sex-change operation. Their marriage was dissolved by the King of Denmark, and they drifted apart to pursue other relationships.

Theron and Kidman are no strangers to controversial films, and both won Oscars for playing lesbian characters in “Monster” and “The Hours” respectively. Undoubtedly, they’ll give this film the intensity and sensitivity it requires.

Charlize Theron Wants To Play ‘Tourist’ With Tom Cruise

VN:F [1.9.17_1161]
Rating: 0.0/5 (0 votes cast)

Charlize Theron always gets the best costars, doesn’t she? In the last year, she’s starred or signed on opposite Will Smith, Viggo Mortensen, and Mark Wahlberg. Now it looks like she can add Tom Cruise to the glittering list. According to Variety, she’s in talks to star opposite Cruise in “The Tourist,” Bharat Nalluri’s remake of the 2005 French thriller “Anthony Zimmer.”

Theron will play a female Interpol agent who uses an American tourist in an attempt to discover the location of an elusive criminal, with whom she once had a torrid love affair. It’s not clear whether Cruise will play the tourist, or the criminal — but considering which role is in the title, we can probably guess who he is playing.

Compared to the original “Anthony Zimmer,” Theron’s role has been given an extra edge of cool as an Interpol agent, as the French heroine was merely the criminal’s girlfriend. You can’t expect Aeon Flux to play less than an Interpol agent, especially if she’s up against Cruise. It should be a lot of fun to see her tackle another action role, and give him the runaround.

The movie is expected to begin shooting in March, and is waiting for a final script polish by Christopher McQuarrie, who cowrote Cruise’s upcoming movie “Valkyrie.”

Theron Settles Lawsuit With Watchmaker

Rating: 0.0/5 (0 votes cast)

Charlize Theron has settled a $20 million lawsuit with the luxury watchmaker that accused her of breach of contract.

Bosses at Swiss company Raymond Weil claimed they paid Theron the sum to wear its watches exclusively between October 2005 and December 2006.

According to court documents, Theron broke their agreement when she “was actually photographed wearing a watch from the Christian Dior line” at a press event in Austin on March 14.

The following month, Theron modeled a Montblanc watch on a billboard at a Swiss trade show.

Company executives added the violations “demonstrate a total disregard by (Theron) for any of her obligations under the agreement.”

The settlement follows her lawyers’ failed attempts to have the case dismissed.

New court documents filed in Manhattan Federal Court reveal the suit will be tossed when it is finalized within 30 days.

Terms of the settlement in the have not been disclosed.
