Charlize Theron Does Nude Push-Ups in ‘Prometheus’
Charlize Theron does nude push-ups in Prometheus, which should definitely help Ridley Scott’s latest sci-fi film garner even more buzz (not that it really needs it).
Some footage from the highly anticipated alien flick was recently screened at Comic-Con, and descriptions of the scenes shown have hit the web. It sounds like the movie is going to be incredibly creepy and exciting, with the clips shown featuring a cave full of strange hieroglyphics, flamethrowers, lots of strange jelly-like stuff, alien eggs, and lots of screaming. Ridley Scott says in a voiceover, “The cast find an establishment which is not what they expected it to be, it’s a civilization but what we find in it is very uncivilized behavior.” He also says that the movie will break new ground and “scare the living (bleep)” out of people.
Fanboys will also be interested to note that Charlize Theron evidently has a nude scene in Prometheus—apparently her “cold and frigid” character likes working out in the buff. Ridley originally wanted Sigourney Weaver’s character Ripley to be nude at the end of the first Alien movie to show her vulnerability alongside his terrifying, hard-shelled movie monster, but had to settle for the scene shot with her wearing underwear due to time constraints. So perhaps the director is making up for that lost opportunity by having Charlize Theron appear in the buff in Prometheus (she’s appeared nude in plenty of movies before, so she probably didn’t have any problem with it).
Ridley Scott also revealed that there is a small connection between his latest movie and Alien, stating that the audience will understand what it is during the last few minutes of Prometheus. Here’s the hint he dropped: “There was something in the first of the Aliens that no one had ever asked the question about… I thought that could be the center of what we’ve just completed.” Scott also stated that there might be two androids in the movie, and that some things that seem small will turn out to be very important (so filmgoers will have to pay attention when they finally get to see it).
There really hasn’t been a great alien horror movie in recent years, with great but much less-frightening alien action movies like Avatar, District 9, Attack the Block, and Super 8 invading theaters instead. So will Charlize Theron and Ridley Scott help make aliens truly terrifying again? Hopefully so—Sigourney Weaver really wants to make another Alien sequel.
