For a woman who’s been honored with nearly every important award that Hollywood has to offer, from an Academy Award to a Golden Globe, not to mention coveted titles like Esquire’s “Sexiest Woman Alive” and Spike’s “Decade of Hotness,” it seems like it’s been awhile since we’ve seen Charlize Theron in action.

Thankfully the nearly three-year wait for a Theron movie to hit theaters is almost over. Her latest flick is the buzzed-about Jason Reitman-directed, Diablo Cody-scripted comedy “Young Adult,” which gets a limited release next week; the highly anticipated “Snow White and the Huntsman” hits theaters next summer.

MTV News recently caught up with the down-to-earth Oscar winner as she did press for “Young Adult,” and we had to find out what the lovely leading lady has been up to the last few years.

“[I was] unemployed, I just couldn’t get a job,” Theron joked, adding that an average weekday for her involved several … suspicious activities.

“I cry and drink and shoot heroin. Is that not a typical Tuesday for you?” Theron asked MTV News’ Josh Horowitz with a smile. “Then I go to therapy and things turn out OK. No, I was getting ready to go and do a film in Australia and that just kept pushing and pushing,” she explained, referring to the problem-plagued “Mad Max: Fury Road.”

Theron said she “would love” to make “Fury Road” in spite of the delayed production. And while she’s slated to star opposite Tom Hardy in the film, the actress debunked a rumor that her character would be kicking butt with just one arm. “Who told you that?” she asked when we brought up the report. “Do you actually believe everything on the Interweb? Poor you,” she laughed.

It’s still unclear when or if George Miller’s long-delayed resurrection of the “Mad Max” franchise will start production again, but fans can be hopeful. After all, Miller recently revealed his plans for not one, but three feature films.

“We started with ['Fury Road'], but we then started to do a second story and a third,” he said. “We’ve written the script for the second and almost finished the third. We never intended to — they were part of the exploration of the characters.”

The new Mad Max film will no longer be shooting in the outback city of Broken Hill. Director George Miller has said that the landscape is too green for a Mad Max film.

The film’s crew and equipment are currently preparing to move to an overseas location most likely Namibia according to a report in the if.com.

Production on the film had already been delayed for 12 months while Miller waited for the landscape to dry out after Australia was flooded in 2010. The film had originally planned to shoot in Namibia as early as 2003 before the Iraq War made production impossible in the region.

The film was revived in October 2009 with New South Wales as the planned location until seasonal rains once again delayed the film.

“The Mad Max landscape looked like Wales,” Mr. Miller told the Sydney Morning Herald. “There was a carpet of flowers on the location we were shooting on.”

“There’s no way it’s going to brown off. Not only that, we wanted to shoot some of the shots on Lake Eyre but now it’s full of pelicans.”

“Mad Max 4: Fury Road” will be the first part of another trilogy of Mad Max films. It will star Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron and Hugh Keays-Byrne.

The loss of the film has also affected Broken Hill whose residents had anticipated that the film’s 200-strong production crew would generate business. The town located 700 miles west of Sydney had been the location of other major productions including Mission Impossible II and Mad Max II.

“Let’s look at the long term future; if there’s going to be a Mad Max Four, it’s better to be made then we possibly can get some input into Mad Max 5, or have Mad Max 5 here,” said Broken Hill mayor, Wincen Cuy.

Fears are growing over the future of the new Mad Max movie after filming was postponed for a second time.

The fourth film in the franchise, starring Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult, is a reboot of Mel Gibson’s original 1979 action picture and will be shot back-to-back with a sequel.

The blockbuster was due to begin production in Australia next month, but was delayed until February.

And now the shoot has been put back again – with reports suggesting work on Mad Max won’t begin until 2012.

Hugh Gough, who was due to provide accommodation for the film crew, claims the production company’s bookings for February have now been pushed back.

He tells Australia’s ABC News, “I would call it a kick in the guts. We have now cleared the bookings that we had made for substantial periods of time in early 2011, and certainly very significantly from April to July of 2011.”

The two films, Mad Max: Fury Road and Mad Max: Furiosa, will be the fourth and fifth installments in the popular franchise.

Charlize Theron’s stunt double in the new Mad Max movie will be a one-armed Aussie swimmer.

Paralympic swimmer Annabelle Williams, 22, whose left arm ends just below the elbow, has revealed that she will be filling in for the Oscar-winning star in the film’s fight scenes.

The casting has triggered online rumours that Theron’s as-yet-unnamed character will have part of one arm missing.

Williams, who is taking part in the Delhi Commonwealth Games, told ABC news in Australia that she landed the role in Mad Max 4: Fury Road last December.

She said: ‘I got a phone call from one of the people at [the production company] and they said it’s got a AUD$200 million budget. My mum was sitting there and we were just like, ‘What?’

‘Then they said that the lead actress was Charlize Theron and I nearly died. And then I thought to myself the resemblance is striking.”

Williams then laughed, adding: ‘Not at all. And she’s about a foot taller than me.

‘They are going to film me from a very long distance for the fighting, so that they don’t have to CGI out her arm.

‘I will be her, but just not [in] the face.’

The movie, which also stars British actor Tom Hardy, will be filmed in Australia and is scheduled for release in 2011.

Charlize Theron has signed on for the revival of the actor’s post-apocalyptic Mad Max movies.

Charlize will star in the fourth installment of the franchise – last seen on our screens in 1985 – with Mad Max: Fury Road.

British actor Tom Hardy will be the Burning Plain beauty’s leading man when they start filming in Australia next August.

No news on whether Mel — who launched his career as an Aussie unknown in the original 1979 Max Max movie – will be involved.

The trilogy (Mad Max, Road Warrior and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, starring Tina Turner) is set in a dystopian future world ruled by violent gangs.
