New Prometheus ‘Ampule Room’ Image and Charlize Theron Character Details

By now the Prometheus ‘Ampule Room’ should be burned into your brains. It seems like two out of every three images released from the upcoming Ridley Scott sci-fi thriller feature a new angle on the cavernous room with the giant human head.
Now here comes another look at the ‘Ampule Room’ as scanned from the pages of Total Film magazine. It features two of the Prometheus ship explorers, one shining their flashlight right up the giant human head statue’s nose. Hopefully for their sake there’s not something slimy hiding up there.
Speaking of slimy, the article in Total Film accompanying the image (see below, and give it a click for a high-res look) offers up some new …

Charlize Theron On If Her Role In PROMETHEUS Is Similar To Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley In ALIEN

Speaking to Total Film Magazine, the lovely Charlize Theron answered a few questions about Prometheus, the Alien prequel that’s being marketed as not a prequel. Here’s what Theron had to say:
When we asked if her role in the Alien sorta-prequel would be comparable to Sigourney Weaver’s iconic Ripley:
THERON: “No, I actually don’t play the heroine in it; that’s Noomi Rapace. I play somewhat of a villain in it.” [My character] is not a believer, she’s not a scientist, she is the red tape that everyone has to go through. She’s working with the company that’s sponsoring this whole thing and you can feel she definitely has an agenda, which we pick up in the third …

Charlize Theron Feels “Empowered” by Prometheus

When Charlize Theron began her acting career, she never envisioned herself an action star, though that’s exactly what she’s been in such films as Aeon Flux and Hancock (between winning Academy Awards for more dramatic fare, of course). Interestingly, though, it is her Prometheus director Ridley Scott who inspired her to seek out roles of strength in the first place.
More specifically, Theron points to Sigourney Weaver’s portrayal of Ripley in Scott’s 1979 classic, Alien. Muses the actress, “I do think that Ridley Scott really was the first person who took full advantage of how you could explore not only that genre but themes that I think only men in cinema had been allowed to explore. …

Charlize Theron and Ridley Scott Tightlipped On Mysterious “Alien” Prequel “Prometheus”

In presenting his new film, Prometheus, at Comic-Con, Ridley Scott was torn between building excitement for the presumed Alien prequel and keeping the project shrouded in secrecy.
What he did decide to show, including footage of stars Charlize Theron, Idris Elba and Michael Fassbender bouncing around in retro spacesuits, looked amazing, even if details about the film were sparse.
“Ridley has been sort of very cryptically obtuse about everything, and he will probably kill us if we say too much about the movie,” screenwriter Damon Lindelof said. “If you were looking for answers, you came to the wrong place.”
Theron was equally circumspect. When asked if she could share any details about her character, Meredith Vickers, …
