Charlize Theron is a cultured, cosmopolitan actress who transformed herself to play Aileen Wuornos (to Oscar-winning effect) in 2003′s “Monster” and threw herself into roles in socially conscious films like “Battle in Seattle” and “North Country.” But the real sign of her worldly wisdom is her familiarity with none other than MTV’s blockbuster reality show, “Jersey Shore.”

“I know Snooki,” Theron told MTV News Saturday night at Spike TV’s Guys Choice Awards when asked how well she knew the show. “I know ‘The Situation’. [I know] Paulie.”

Theron’s familiarity with even a few of the folks on “Jersey Shore” is a significant improvement on her storied history with “The Hills,” which she discussed several times with MTV News. She even has a favorite of the Seaside Heights crew. “I would say that out of all of them, Pauly is the cutest.”

In between accidental F-bombs, another Theron trademark, she paid tribute to Snooki and JWoww, the show’s female contingent. “I love you all,” she said to the cast, who will all join MTV News on the red carpet for the MTV Movie Awards pre-show. “What are they called, guidettes? Rock on, guidettes!”

Good news: Charlize Theron and Robert Downey Jr. are a couple more stars you can expect to see at the Academy Awards this Sunday. According to People.com, the team behind the ceremony announced Theron, Downey Jr., and a slew of other stars who’ll be presenting Oscars to the winners yesterday.

Theron scored a Best Actress prize in 2003 for her turn as a killer in Monster, and she’s a constant fixture on the red carpet (we can’t wait to see her gown!) As for Downey, he was nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category last year for Tropic Thunder but lost out to the late Heath Ledger. And even though he didn’t score a nod this time around for Sherlock Holmes, he did win a Golden Globe award for that performance.
