Oscar-winner Charlize Theron played the role of supportive girlfriend during her visit to the Sarasota Film Festival..
Her longtime boyfriend, Stuart Townsend, wrote and directed his first film, “Battle in Seattle,” which was to be shown in back-to-back screenings Sunday night.
Though she took center stage as an award recipient at the film festival ball Saturday night, she tried valiantly to downplay her presence and to promote Townsend and the film.
She did the same thing during an often serious, occasionally banter-filled conversation with Townsend and co-stars Martin Henderson and Michelle Rodriguez Sunday afternoon.
Townsend talked about the difficulty of writing his first script for the film about the riots that erupted during the World Trade Organization meetings …

Caring Charlize Theron fought back tears as she told how she is helping save lives in her native South Africa.
The Hollywood beauty is working with chatshow host Oprah Winfrey to provide a mobile health clinic and education centre to tackle the devastating threat of HIV and AIDS.
She struggled to contain her emotions when she appeared on Oprah’s show to talk about the project and watch a video of her recent visit to Africa.
The clinic travels to four schools in remote and impoverished areas of KwaZulu-Natal to give HIV tests and vital sex education to students.
It’s been a while since Charlize Theron has been seen at a premiere, but she was certainly on glowing form for the opening of her new flick on Thursday night. The beautiful South African stepped out in LA to a screening of her drama Sleepwalking.
And despite the title of the movie, the Oscar-winning actress was wide awake as she sent flashbulbs popping in a flapper-style black frock with on-trend platform sandals.
Talented Charlize, who stars as a troubled woman who abandons her 12-year-old daughter, was also on producing duty for the film. And it seems her work has a high-profile fan – in the form of veteran actor and co-star Dennis Hopper.
“It’s terrific and Charlize is …
Charlize Theron was at the Smith Rafael Film Center on Sunday night to promote “Sleepwalking,” a low-budget independent movie she produced and in which stars.
“Sleepwalking” was shown for California Film Institute members, followed by a Q&A session with Theron and co-star Nick Stahl.
She made it clear that this is “a passion project” for her, so she has to be disappointed with the lousy reviews so far.
After its recent showing at Sundance, the MTV Movie Blog called it “the Super Bowl of good performance/bad movie movies.”
JustJared has posted some fantastic photos of Charlize receiving her Hasty Pudding award and at the parade. Click here to view them all now. I will have some HQs available in the gallery within the next couple of days.

As some of you may have noticed, new photos of Charlize at the Q&A session at the ‘In the Valley of Elah’ screening on September 13th were added to the gallery yesterday afternoon. I had been looking for these for a while, but wasn’t able to find them until a couple of days ago. Enjoy!
Charlize was in attendance and a presenter at the 2007 Movies Rock event held on December 2nd in Los Angeles, CA. She looked stunning as always in a lovely white and black gown and with the new hair, she reminds me a bit of her character Britt Eckland in ‘The Life and Death of Peter Sellers.” Click here or on the images below to view the full set of photos.
I finally had a chance to make a small update this weekend with some new scans and some lovely photos of Charlize dancing and having fun with students at Nhliziyo High School during the launch of the Mpilonhle Youth Education and Mobile Health Project in South Africa, which is a project funded by the ‘Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Program.’ More updates coming soon.
